Eat your Vegetables
Every one of us boomers comes from parents who were products of The Depression through the Korean War. Our folks have seen hard times, and times of not having but wanting. Whether they were influenced by soup lines or ration stamps, they ingrained in most of us the value of an item.
As we were growing, we faced meal times as an event. For my family it was chicken on Friday, fish on Saturday, and a roast on Sunday. Every meal was complete with at least two vegetables. As a child, the vegetables were a priority to my mother. “Eat your vegetables. They are good for you and you will stay at the table until you do”. I know there were times I hated that statement, especially when it was Brussels spouts. But, we did as we were told. We ate them. We didn’t argue or complain because that would only bring on more vegetables.
It has recently been reported on the news that our generation will have a better chance of living longer than our offspring. At times I find this hard to believe. The current generation doesn’t drink like we do (or did). They smoke less and supposedly are more interested in being more organic in their eating than we were. If that is the case, then why are we going to live longer? Maybe it is the vegetables or sitting down to a home cooked meal that was more of an event than a modern day feeding frenzy. Our meals with our parents were lengthy, often lasting 30 minute to an hour. The meals were also balanced. We had a protein (meat or bean), carbohydrate (breads potatoes, or rice), and steady supply of vitamins ( those vegetables). Believe it or not, we were balanced in our diet. Now, I know that on the table were also bowls of gravy, sticks of butter, and often the meat item was fried, but the good qualities were prevalent.
We need to keep it up. Although we may not have enjoyed it back when we were kids, we benefited. We need to pass on that benefit to our children and if not them then to our grandchildren. Sit down with the kids with a home cooked meal that has the essentials. When the kids look strangely at you simply tell them to …“Eat your vegetables. They are good for you and you will stay at the table until you do”. You will be doing them a favor.

Доброго всем здоровья,друзья мои. Сегодня всем нам продемонстрировали эмблему грядущей в 2014 году Олимпиады, и я конечно не могу себе отказать в удовольствии нафлудить тут у Вас…
А может не так уж он и плох? 
Итак, практически по всем каналам прокатилось данное известие, как подобает, с наивысшей степенью ПиаРа. Сам президент подержал футболку с логотипчиком, замутили пресс-конференцию, на Первом забабахали концерт, ну и конечно, рекламные тизеры о нашей необыкновенной Олимпиаде.
Тем самым как то на второй план отошла сама картинка, что будет красоваться на флагах, шарфиках, и прочей сувенирной продукции через 4 года. А хотелось бы остановиться на ней поподробнее. Откровенно говоря, когда увидел, был мягко говоря разочарован. Сразу всплыла в голове такая картина: сидят значит наши организаторы Олимпиады, и тут один вскакивает с дивана и кричит “мужыки, нам ведь завтра эмблему в Олимпийский коммитет надо отсылать”. Начинается паника, но не долго думая наши функционеры садятся за ближайший комп, набирают незамысловатым шрифтом фразу Sochi2014 (конечно же по английски) добавляют затёртое .RU А чтобы не заморачиваться с графикой, в поисковике находят олимпийские кольца и впихивают их рядом с этой надписью в фотошопе
Ребят, просто нет слов! Всё могу понять: кольца, название города, год проведения, но где тут изюминка??? та, чтобы цепляла. Где нестандартные дизайнерские решения? Посмотрите на логотип той же зимней олимпиады в Турине, где изображен силуэт “Моле-Антонеллины”, который нельзя перепутать ни с чем. Он плавно переходит в изображение горы, окруженной кристалликами льда, на которой снег сливается с небом. Кристаллики переплетаются между собой, образовывая сеть: сеть новых технологий и вечного Олимпийского единства.
Я вот совсем не понимаю, зачем нам нужно это .RU Посещаемость сайта решили повысить? так я думаю он и без эмблемы имел бы посетителей. К тому же официальный сайт олимпиады будет на английском и явно не в зоне RU. Да и вообще на фоне продвижения государством доменной зоны RF, как то уже начинаешь привыкать к мысли что зона RU вскоре станет “устаревшей” чтоли, а то и вообще сгинет как пережиток прошлого..
ЗЫ То ли ещё будет, весной талисман нужно миру показывать..

На сегодня у меня была запланирована мега-пати по поводу “обмытия” новоприобретённого автомобиля. Авто хоть и б/у, но не менее долгожданный. И вот, когда до момента X оставалось совсем немного, а именно регистрация оного в ГАИ, всё дело и затормозилось. В нашем ГАИ (центральном, областном ГАИ!!!) просто-напросто взяли и закончились бланки ПТС!!! А новых нет как нет!!! Вот взяли и исчезли, как блин, инопланетяне их украли. На все мои вопросы, когда же они появятся, меня вежливо послали - бланков НЕТ, знать ничего не знаем, когда появятся, тогда и появятся. Я в дипрессии - казалось бы такая мелочь, а теперь из-за этой мелочи неизвестно когда я теперь сяду за руль моего нового автомобиля!
Я вообще не понимаю, какого фига мы должны страдать из-за того, что у них там нет какой-то бумажки. Заменитель бы давали временный в конце концов! Вся наша бюрократическая система во всей красе…

I am not much of a guy who thinks in so deeply about web design but I think your post had some valid points in it. Like designers are forced to design stuff within the limited code available and not go beyond it, their innovation is somewhat limited but still I think Web Design won’t die! I agree that Amazon and other some big sites won’t have a blog but now a days it’s very important to have some sort of option available so people can quickly communicate their thoughts. I think Amazon if wants to shift it to that, they can get a customized CMS for themselves.
